Serving Others:
"Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: "
- Philippians 2:4-5

Here is a little recap on the Bible elective we had at camp: Christ served, he humbled himself for us. Phil 2:7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. Phil 2:8 and being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death —even death on a cross! Why do we find it so hard to serve others and walk humbly? We are in a constant fight against our sinful nature. Ro 7:18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. We may have good thoughts/intentions however we need to put serving into practice/action and not stop at "lip service." Ro 7:19 For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. We may feel that there is no power in being humble. We may see it as being weak or "wimpy". Being humble and putting others first is real power, it's the power of Christ in me. Serving others with a "good" attitude strengthens us bringing us closer to Christ. Serving others can become a habit which strengthens our character bringing us closer to our destiny.
Remember our thoughts determine our actions which become a habit and nurtures our character and leads us to our destiny. I would like to challenge you today to do something for someone. Phil 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Phil 2:4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Serving in a way you don't want to, for someone you don't want to serve. Phil 2:5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: This is serving others in a way that costs us something of ourselves.
I pray you continue to take one step closer in your service!
Serving Jesus with you,
